My friends, making the undefeated San Diego Padres this much of an underdog only because Shota Imanaga is getting the nod at home here is a mistake. Yes, this is the first true home game for the Cubs this season, which held a respectable, 44-37 mark at Wrigley Field a season ago, and yes, they come off a three-game sweep on the road at the Athletics. And… one more yes, they are averaging over 6.67 runs per game. Don't forget the Padres were the best road team in the NL a season ago, going 48-33 as a visitor. This is a team that's also scoring runs, averaging over 5.14 RPG. I am well aware how good Imanaga is. But he eventually has to come out, and be relieved by the Chicago bullpen. Overall, their pitching staff is currently ranking 26th, with a whopping ERA of 5.13. Randy Vasquez takes the mound on the road here. He's looking to follow up his six-inning shutout of Atlanta on the 29th of March. If he gets in any trouble here, he will be relieved by the best pitching staff in baseball, possessing an overall ERA, an anemic 1.57. San Diego has taken six of the last nine meetings in the series, which does include two of the last three played in Chicago. I just think this is a big value play, taking an undefeated team, with a stellar pitching staff, as a big underdog. Take the Padres. Thank you.
