NBA Handicapper Free Betting Pick: Golden State Warriors at Milwaukee Bucks

01.12.2018     12:29 PM     Teddy Covers     Printer Friendly
Submitted by Teddy Covers

SportsMemo.com blog entry.
Golden State at Milwaukee +6.5 O/U 225
Recommendation: Milwaukee

Last year, here at the Bradley Center, the Bucks gave the Warriors everything they could handle, losing by only three points as a nine point home underdog. Two years ago, Jason Kidd’s squad pulled off the outright upset against Golden State on this floor, winning by 13 as nine point dogs. Clearly, Kidd and the Bucks get up for their only home game against the defending champs.

This year’s Milwaukee squad is better – much better – than recent editions. Giannis Antetokounmpo has morphed into a superstar. Point guard Eric Bledsoe has clearly sparked the offense. Kris Middleton is averaging more than 20 points per game. Malcolm Brogdon is continuing to develop off his ‘Rookie of the Year’ campaign in 2017.

The end result? Milwaukee’s offensive execution is as good as it’s been at any point in the Kidd era, and it’s getting better by the week. For the full season, Milwaukee ranks #7 in offensive efficiency. Since Christmas, they’re at #4 in the NBA. And that’s a problem for the disjointed Read more

NBA Betting News: Houston Rockets title odds drop to 15-1 following acquisition of Paul

06.29.2017     09:29 AM     Printer Friendly
SportsMemo.com blog entry.
The odds on another Golden State-Cleveland NBA Finals are still ridiculously low (+140 at 5Dimes) but with Chris Paul headed to Houston, the Rockets are without question more of a "player." The Rockets began the summer at 30-1 to win the title according to Las Vegas' Westgate but have since dropped to 15-1.

"Since winning back-to-back championships [in 1994 and '95], the pursuit of a third title has remained the ultimate goal for our franchise," Rockets owner Leslie Alexander said in a statement. "We feel that combining two of the league's greatest players in James Harden and Chris Paul, operating in Coach [Mike] D'Antoni's system, gives us a championship-caliber team that will compete at the highest level for years to come."

NBA Gambling News: Golden State Warriors -200 to win 2018 title

SportsMemo.com blog entry.
Wanna bet the Golden State Warriors to win next year's NBA title? You'll have to lay -200 which is actually cheaper than -260 they were to start the series vs. Cleveland.

NBA Finals Betting News: Golden State Warriors continue to take money for tonight's Game 3

06.07.2017     09:12 AM     Printer Friendly
SportsMemo.com blog entry.
Following Game 1 and 2's domination, you couldn't help but feel Golden State was going to go off as road chalk for Game 3. But not only are the Warriors chalk, they could close as high as -4 favorites. The game originally opened -2 at CRIS and -2.5 at Pinnacle. It immediately climbed to -3 with indicators it could go to -3.5. As of this morning, -3.5 is the prevailing price but Pinnacle, Cantor, and Grande all have juice attached to the -3.5 and Heritage and Las Vegas' Coasts are already at -4. According to Sports Options, 80% of the "betting public" is on Golden State. Interestingly, 67% prefers the under which is perhaps a nod to Game 2 closing 221 and Game 3 as high as 227.

NBA Finals Handicapping: Golden State opens chalk, takes money for Game 3

06.05.2017     10:04 AM     Printer Friendly
SportsMemo.com blog entry.
In last year's NBA Finals, the Golden State Warriors dominated Games 1 and 2 with wins by 15 and 33. Despite that domination, the Cleveland Cavaliers were short chalk (-1.5 and -2.5) and Games 3 and 4 at Quicken Loans Arena. We saw a similar outcome in this year's first two games with Golden State winning and covering with relative ease. The difference is Cleveland won't need to win by margin to cash a ticket this time around with the Warriors opening -2 and immediately bet up to -3. A few offshore sportsbooks indicate that the line could go even higher with juice attached to the -3. Note that 5Dimes' lookahead lines for Games 3 and 4 had the Cavs -2. Golden State is now an adjusted -1500 series favorite. Those able to shop around could get Cleveland at 10-1.

NBA Finals Handicapping: Game 1's result prompts oddsmakers to adjust total

06.02.2017     08:36 AM     Printer Friendly
SportsMemo.com blog entry.
Because of two never-in-doubt outcomes in Game 1 -- Golden State covering -7 with ease and the total going under by 20 points -- oddsmakers and the betting markets have adjusted for Game 2. Remember, Game 1's total reached as high as 227 before closing 224/224.5. Game 2 meanwhile opened 221.5 and is getting bet under as we speak with CRIS and Pinnacle at 220.5. In terms of the side, some late money helped Golden State close -7.5 (-8 at a few offshore books). The Warriors opened -8 for Game 2 but have been popped repeatedly and are now as high as -9.

NBA Finals Handicapping: Big market move on the UNDER

06.01.2017     08:32 AM     Printer Friendly
SportsMemo.com blog entry.
Very big move on the total for tonight's Game 1 of the NBA Finals. After opening 226, the total reached as high as 227, but a big wave of under money has most offshore sportsbooks now offering 223. Slow and perhaps reluctant to react, 224.5/224 is still available in Las Vegas. According to Sports Options, 59% of the "public" is on the under while 59% prefers Cleveland +7. Note that a few offshore books (Pinnacle, Heritage and Matchbook) are currently showing 7.5.

NBA Finals Handicapping: Golden State series favorite but Cleveland taking money

05.26.2017     07:05 AM     Printer Friendly
SportsMemo.com blog entry.
Unique betting pattern thus far for the upcoming NBA Finals. For Game 1, CRIS opened Golden State as a -5 home favorite which has since been bet up to -7. For the series, Golden State opened -350 but money on Cleveland has driven the line down to -255. Last season, the Warriors closed -6 for Game 1 and around -210 for the series.

NBA Gambling: Golden State takes money for Game 1 of Finals

05.24.2017     09:09 AM     Printer Friendly
Up 3-1, it's a forgone conclusion that the Cleveland Cavaliers will advance to the NBA Finals. But Game 1 isn't until next Thursday and sportsbooks don't like to wait to post numbers on major events. CRIS went ahead and hung both the side and total for Game 1. Golden State opened as a -5 home favorite and was immediately bet up to -7. The total was played down from 226 to 225. The Warriors were laying -6 in last year's Game 1. That total closed 211.

NBA Gambling Alert: Betting markets move following news that Leonard unlikely to play

05.16.2017     10:08 AM     Printer Friendly
SportsMemo.com blog entry.
With Game 3 not until Saturday, it appears that the San Antonio Spurs are going to sit Kawhi Leonard (ankle) for tonight's Game 2. Needless to say, his likely absence caused a stir in the betting markets. Golden State opened -12 but was bet up to as high as -14 (-120). The Warriors have since settled in at -13.5 at most offshore sportsbooks. The total was bet down from a opener of 211 to as low as 207.5. After some "buy back", the total now sits at 209.5.

"We're not happy," Green added. "We just knew what we had in front of us, the opportunity. We still have that. I still believe in our guys. Last night was not just a physical beating, but an emotional and mentally draining game for us to start.

"Our best player is down. We don't know where he is at today [physically]. We still have a chance at something special. We felt with him, we had really good chances. Nobody is happy about it."
