NBA Handicapper Free Betting Pick: Toronto Raptors at Detroit Pistons

03.07.2018     01:39 PM     Teddy Covers     Printer Friendly
Submitted by Teddy Covers blog entry.
Toronto -5 at Detroit O/U 212.5
Recommendation: Toronto

The call the Pistons the biggest disappointment in the East since the Blake Griffin trade would not be an overstatement.  And yes, that includes the ‘pointspread freefaller’ Cleveland Cavaliers; a team that just annihilated the Pistons by 20 in a game that wasn’t as close as the final score might indicate – a complete blowout after halftime.

The results do not lie.  Detroit is now 2-9 SU in their last 11 ballgames, including three SU and ATS losses – all by double digit margins -- right here at Little Caesars Arena.  They’ve dropped 4.5 games out of the playoff picture in the East.  They’re also in the midst of a brutal scheduling run, playing their eighth game in 14 days with a pair of back-2-backs in the mix.  This is a tired team, lacking in confidence and lacking much of a home court edge these Read more

NBA Gambling: Cleveland Cavaliers trade half of their roster

02.08.2018     11:02 AM     Printer Friendly blog entry.
Holy shit, bettors! If change is what you wanted, change is what you're getting with multiple trades going down in the NBA this morning. Most notable is the Cleveland Cavaliers gutting nearly half of their roster. So far we have Isaiah Thomas and Channing Frye headed to the Lakers for Jordan Clarkson and Larry Nance Jr. The Cavs also got rid of Iman Shumpert, Jae Crowder, and Derrick Rose and picked up Rodney Hood and George Hill. Sacramento got Joe Johnson and Shumpert while the Jazz got Crowder and Rose. And Dwyane Wade is headed back to Miami. We'll update on the remaining movement tomorrow.

NBA Gambling News: Dumpster fire continues to burn bright in Cleveland

02.07.2018     11:15 AM     Printer Friendly

It can't get any worse, can it? The Cleveland Cavaliers are just playing awful, they are awful (5-23-2 ATS since 12/2/17). Last night's 116-98 loss to Orlando wasn't just about personnel deficiencies as it was guys flat out quitting. Despite bricking a corner three and literally not making an attempt to get back on defense, Isaiah Thomas felt the need to comment on how the Cavs aren't doing a good job at handling in-game adversity.

"Right now, when we hit adversity, we go our separate ways," Thomas said. "And that's just how I feel, and it looks like that as well. Guys start to go one-on-one on offense, and the defense is every man for himself. The first half we played good, everybody was happy. It was energized, helping each other on the defensive end. Sharing the ball.

NBA Gambling Update: Desperation sets in as Cleveland Cavaliers make lineup change

01.26.2018     07:09 AM     Printer Friendly

The last time we checked in on the Cleveland Cavaliers they were in the midst of a historic 1-13 ATS slide. It's now 1-14 after Tuesday's 114-102 loss at San Antonio. During their two-day break, head coach Tyronn Lue announced a lineup change. Jae Crowder will play with the second unit, Tristan Thompson gets the nod at center, and Kevin Love moves over to power forward. Back in action tonight vs. Indiana, the Cavs have been bet up from -4 to -6.

“That’s part of life,” he said. “But at the end of the day when we’re between these lines, we got to play for one another and that’s all that matters. I don’t care if X don’t like X off the court. ... As long as you’re on the court playing hard and playing for each other, that’s all that matters to me. We don’t got to

NBA Handicapping: Cleveland Cavaliers' pointspread run now sits at 1-13

01.23.2018     12:33 PM     Printer Friendly blog entry.
Saving the best for last, we present to you the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Cavs are in the midst of one of the worst ATS runs in NBA history (1-13 ATS). Last Saturday, they allowed 148 at home to Oklahoma City. They too had the obligatory "team meeting" in which everyone pretty much called Kevin Love a sissy for being sick. And speaking of crappy spread records, the Cavs have covered only 12 games ALL SEASON and we're week away from the start of February! Cleveland returns to action tonight (and taking money!) at San Antonio. Cavs jumped from +2 to as high as -2.5.

"We've got to do something about it," he said. "We're doing a lot of talking, but we've got to play better. We've got to execute better offensively, we've got to execute better defensively. We've got to be better collectively. Everyone has to be better. We've been saying that, but we're taking the necessary steps to do that."

NBA Gambling News: Cleveland can't guard and thus can't cover pointspreads

01.12.2018     09:31 AM     Printer Friendly blog entry.
Looks like were in the midst of a mid-season Cleveland Cavaliers swoon. After ripping off an 18-1 run, the Cavs started a hellacious stretch of 10 out of 12 on the highway. They took down the Wizards on December 17 but proceeded to lose seven of their next 10 while covering only one pointspread during that span. The last two efforts have been particularly alarming. On Monday they were hammered at Minnesota, 127-99, and managed to top it with a 133-99 loss to Toronto last night. Cleveland currently sports the worst ATS record in the league at 12-28-1. Tonight's game at Indiana marks the finale of the road swing. The Cavs opened -1 and were bet up to -2.5.

"We've got to be better," Lue said after the Cavs lost for the seventh time in the past 10 games. "We know that. But until we play better defensively, I think offensively sharing the basketball, everyone on the same page -- and if guys have agendas, we've got to get rid of our agendas and play the right way."

Asked what he meant by "agendas," Lue

NBA Gambling News: Cleveland vows to shore up leaky defense

11.01.2017     09:57 AM     Printer Friendly blog entry.
A little early in the NBA season for a "team meeting", no? The Cleveland Cavaliers are 3-4 (1-6 ATS) and 28th in the league in defensive efficiency. They've allowed 115 ppg over their last five games; three of which came against New York, Brooklyn, and Chicago. After two off days, the Cavs (-10) play host to Indiana tonight. The total was bet down from 218.5 to 216.5.

“The slow start that we’ve had prompted us to just all get on the same page and kind of figure out what we need to do,” center Kevin Love said. “I feel like we can get in better shape, that’s going to help us on the defensive end. Communication, energy and just getting the new guys adjusted. So time will tell how it’s going to play out, but we have a lot of really good positive energy from today, so, it was a great practice.”

NBA Gambling: Odds indicate Irving will stay in Cleveland, Melo headed to Houston

07.24.2017     09:41 AM     Printer Friendly blog entry.
The NBA offseason is a total shit-show right now because Kyrie Irving wants out of Cleveland and Carmelo Anthony would rather play for Idaho State than the New York Knicks. Looking to capitalize on the chaos, BetOnline is offering odds on where both players will end up. Right now, Kyrie is even money to suit up for the Cavs and Houston is the chalk destination for Melo at -130.

NBA Betting News: Houston Rockets title odds drop to 15-1 following acquisition of Paul

06.29.2017     09:29 AM     Printer Friendly blog entry.
The odds on another Golden State-Cleveland NBA Finals are still ridiculously low (+140 at 5Dimes) but with Chris Paul headed to Houston, the Rockets are without question more of a "player." The Rockets began the summer at 30-1 to win the title according to Las Vegas' Westgate but have since dropped to 15-1.

"Since winning back-to-back championships [in 1994 and '95], the pursuit of a third title has remained the ultimate goal for our franchise," Rockets owner Leslie Alexander said in a statement. "We feel that combining two of the league's greatest players in James Harden and Chris Paul, operating in Coach [Mike] D'Antoni's system, gives us a championship-caliber team that will compete at the highest level for years to come."
