NBA Handicapper Free Betting Pick: Atlanta Hawks at Indiana Pacers

Atlanta at Indiana -8.5 O/U 212
Recommendation: Indiana

It’s circle the wagons time in Indianapolis tonight as the hungry Pacers take on the bottom-feeder Hawks. Indiana is coming off a humiliating home loss to Utah on Wednesday Night; a 20 point defeat in which Nate McMillan’s squad hit only 3-23 from three point range while allowing the Jazz to hit better than 51% from the floor. The Pacers lost at Atlanta just last week in a flat, lethargic effort. And the quotes coming out of this locker room have bet-on written all over them.

Pacers center Myles Turner, their lone offensive bright spot in the loss to Utah: “It's a game we got to take personally. We're at home. We just got beat by 20 at our crib, that can't happen. We got to take that frustration into this game."

Pacers forward Trevor Booker noted what happened last week: “If you look at Atlanta, they are at the bottom, but you have to overlook that because they've been actually playing well lately. They've been moving the ball well and they beat us last time we played them. So we're going to be coming out and trying to avenge that Read more

NBA Handicapper Free Betting Pick: Boston Celtics at Atlanta Hawks

11.06.2017     01:36 PM     Teddy Covers     Printer Friendly
Submitted by Teddy Covers blog entry.
Boston -8 at Atlanta O/U 204.5
Recommendation: Boston

The Celtics lost Gordon Hayward five minutes into the season. Boston lost on opening night, then lost the following night at home to Milwaukee. The betting markets immediately devalued Boston; a team with a whole host of new faces just learning to play with one another. That was a mistake!
Head coach Brad Stevens has worked his magic. The Celtics haven’t lost since that defeat to the Bucks on the second night of the season. That includes road wins, by margin, at Philadelphia, Milwaukee, Miami, Orlando and OKC; all of whom are better than the bottom feeder Hawks team they’ll face today.

The Celtics enter Sunday with the #1defense in the NBA, allowing fewer than 96 points per 100 possessions. That’s bad news for a Hawks team that ranks #26 in offensive efficiency this season. Other than veteran point guard Dennis Schroder, this is not a team loaded with playmakers. When the Hawks aren’t draining three’s, they’re a rough team to watch (or bet on). And, frankly, not many teams are draining three’s against this stout Boston Read more

NBA Handicapping: Boston Celtics go for ninth straight pointspread cover tonight at Atlanta

11.06.2017     09:10 AM     Printer Friendly blog entry.
After an 0-2 start to the season (1-1 ATS) which included the loss of star Gordon Hayward, the Boston Celtics have been absolutely dominant. They've ripped off eight straight wins by an average of 13.5 ppg. They've covered eight straight games; outpacing the pointspread by an average of 12 ppg. And only once during that span did the Celtics fail to cover by double-digits. Oddsmakers have obviously noticed. In its four previous road games vs. Eastern Conference foes, Boston's prices were -3.5 at Orlando, -1 at Miami, +4.5 at Milwaukee, and +3 at Philadelphia. Tonight, they opened -8.5 at Atlanta. Also factored into the adjustment is a Hawks squad that currently owns the worst point differential (-7.9) in the Easter Conference.

NBA Handicapper Free Betting Pick: Miami Heat at Chicago Bulls

Miami +7.5 at Chicago O/U 204
Recommendation: Miami

It’s not hard to make a case for betting against the Chicago Bulls tonight; a team who’s internal chemistry has clearly fallen off a cliff in recent weeks.  The Bulls late game meltdown against Atlanta on Wednesday – a true ‘Moose’ for their pointspread backers, as the Hawks closed out the game on a 19-4 run over the last three minutes, erasing a ten point deficit in the process – made a bad situation worse.

Dwayne Wade ripped into his teammates following the loss: “Everyone don’t care enough…I don't know how you fix it. It just doesn't mean enough for guys around here to want to win ball games. It pisses me off. Games are supposed to hurt. You're not supposed to sleep. You're not supposed to want to talk to anybody. I don't know if that is in guys in this locker room.”

So did Jimmy Butler:  “Something is wrong. I want to play with guys who care, guys who play hard, who want to do well for this organization, who want to do whatever it takes to win.”
Then Rajon Rondo went off on his teammates on Read more

NBA Gambling Update: Bulls' situation somehow goes from bad to worse

01.27.2017     09:07 AM     Printer Friendly

This is high comedy. Earlier this week, Chicago's Jimmy Butler and Dwyane Wade flat out shit on their teammates for not putting forth the proper amount of effort. Enter Rajon Rondo who felt the need to join in on the shitting by tossing said shit right back at Butler and Wade. But perhaps the most telling part of the situation is that in both ESPN articles there is not one single quote or even mention about head coach Fred Hoiberg. Where Hoiberg is mentioned in another article that asks whether or not Butler “big leagued” him during a timeout. Sacramento who?

"My vets would never go to the media. They would come to the team. ... My goal is to pass what I learned along. The young guys work. They show up. They don't

NBA Handicapping: Chicago Bulls not in a good place right now

01.26.2017     09:22 AM     Printer Friendly blog entry.
Move over New York Knicks, there's a new dumpster fire in town. Here we have Chicago's Jimmy Butler and Dwyane Wade basically calling the entire team soft following last night's home loss to Atlanta. The Bulls face Miami and Philadelphia at home before embarking on a six-game west coast road trip.

"M-----f-----s just got to care if we win or lose," Butler said. "At the end of the day, do whatever it takes to help the team win. You play your role to the tee. Be a star in your role, man. That's how you win in this league, man. You have to embrace what this team, what this organization needs for you to do on either end of the floor. On top of everything else, just play every possession like it's your last. We don't play hard all the time. It's very disappointing whenever we don't play hard."

NFL Handicapping: A look at this weekend's four Divisional Round matchups

Atlanta’s offense was both visually and statistically (33.8 ppg and 415.8 ypg) dominant for much of the season. They play host to a Seattle defense that obviously has a strong pedigree, particularly in the secondary. But that dominant secondary has been exposed at times this year and was recently dealt a key injury with Pro Bowl safety Earl Thomas out. Detroit couldn’t take advantage of Thomas’ absence as it was clear Matthew Stafford was not 100 percent due to a dislocated finger. And the Lions’ offensive line was banged up and missing two starters. In the end, the Seahawks surrendered only 231 total yards. It will be a much more difficult task this weekend as Atlanta’s offense is in a far better position to successfully move the football. Matt Ryan (38 TDs, 7 INTs, 69.9% completion rate) has a host of skill position weapons and like we saw against Arizona and Green Bay, Seattle can be exposed through the air. There are questions about Atlanta’s defense which ranked in the bottom third of the league in a number of categories. After struggling to run the football for virtually the entire regular season, Thomas Rawls went for 161 yards against Read more

NFL Gambling: Buffalo and Carolina appear headed in the wrong direction following Week 13 losses

Up 24-9 and seemingly on their way to an impressive road win at Oakland, the Buffalo Bills melted down in a big way as the Raiders closed the game with four unanswered touchdowns. The end result was a 38-24 loss which dropped the Bills to 6-6 and put the team in the position of likely needing to “win out” in order to reach the playoffs. As for Sunday’s game, Buffalo led by 15 points midway through the third quarter behind a bend-but-don’t-break defense that held Oakland to three field goals. But the defense wilted and Oakland started moving the football with ease as Derek Carr hit on multiple big plays to Michael Crabtree and Amari Cooper. Buffalo’s 24-9 lead turned into a 30-24 deficit with the nail in the coffin coming when Tyrod Taylor was hit as he threw the football from his own end zone and the ball was picked off giving Oakland instant field position en route to yet another touchdown. The Bills are now two games behind the final Wild Card spot in the AFC. Their schedule to finish the season is manageable with three home games in a row as they host Pittsburgh this week followed by Cleveland and Miami. They close out the regular season Read more

NFL Gambling News: Tampa Bay surges, Cincinnati continues to regress

11.21.2016     11:43 AM     ICC     Printer Friendly
Submitted by ICC blog entry.
After beating Atlanta outright as a road underdog in Week 1, Tampa Bay spent the better part of the next two months playing unpredictable football. They were outclassed by Arizona, Denver, and in the second meeting against the Falcons and headed into Week 10 as a home underdog to bottom feeder Chicago. Lose that game and drop to 3-6 with tough upcoming games at Kansas City and home vs. Seattle. Instead, the Bucs cruised past the Bears and then stole one last week with a 19-17 win over the Chiefs. I don’t think it is a coincidence that this mini two-game winning streak coincides with the return of running back Doug Martin. Martin is an excellent multipurpose back that can block and catch the ball out of the backfield. Tampa is now 3-0 SU and ATS with Martin on the field and his presence has provided Jameis Winston with more options both vertically and underneath. Winston had some early season struggles, particularly with bad decision making, but over his last three games he flashes a 7-1 TD-to-INT ratio. Tampa Bay’s time of possession numbers have skyrocketed with the Bucs possessing the ball for 37 minutes against Chicago and 35 minutes against Kansas City. Again, this Read more

Teddy Covers' Las Vegas Wiseguy Report: Ranking all 32 NFL teams heading into Week 1

09.06.2016     08:06 AM     Teddy Covers     Printer Friendly
Submitted by Teddy Covers blog entry.
The NFL Preseason is in the rear view mirror, with Week 1 kicking off on Thursday as Carolina travels to Denver as -3 road favorites.  Here’s how I have all 32 teams ranked heading into the regular season.

1. Carolina Panthers  - Cam Newton and Carolina’s offense are poised to rank among the most potent attacks in the NFL.  Watch out for the Funchess/Benjamin WR duo!

2. Seattle Seahawks - Russell Wilson gave an MVP caliber performance in 2015, but his ability to repeat that effort could be stunted by the Seahawks offensive line woes.

3. Green Bay Packers - The Packers come out of camp with a full complement of healthy weapons for Aaron Rodgers, good news after Rodgers numbers took a big hit without Jordy Nelson last year.

4. Arizona Cardinals - Arizona returns just about every key player on both sides of the ball from a team that ranked among the NFL’s elite in 2015.

5. New England Patriots - If Tom Brady was at quarterback, this team would be ranked #1.  But with Jimmy Garappolo behind center, the Pats take a modest tumble in my rankings.

6. Kansas City Chiefs - Andy Reid’s Read more
